Noise exposure assessment

Hearing damage caused by prolonged exposure to noise is irreversible — and therefore entirely preventable. When employees are regularly exposed to noise levels above 80 dB(A), there is a risk of permanent hearing damage. This has consequences for the health of your employees and can lead to absenteeism and loss of productivity.

It is crucial for employers to have insight into the actual noise exposure in their organization — both preventively and reactively to reports or as part of risk assessments. A professional assessment provides clarity and forms the basis for targeted, effective measures.

Procedure

  • On-site investigation: Noise exposure is determined using two possible methods:
    • Dosimetry means that employees are equipped with a measuring instrument during a working day that records their personal exposure.
    • An alternative is a work analysis per job, after which the noise level per task is measured and the daily dose is estimated.

  • Reporting and analysis: The results are recorded in writing, including findings, conclusions, and a clear interpretation of the data.
  • Advice and next steps: Based on the results, you will receive specific recommendations—for example, technical measures, organizational adjustments, or personal protective equipment—tailored to your situation.

Completion and benefits
You know exactly where you stand. This assessment gives you a clear picture of whether and where limit values are being exceeded and what measures are needed. This enables you to take targeted, cost-effective steps to prevent hearing damage, reduce absenteeism, and protect your employees. In addition, you comply with your legal obligations regarding noise management.
