Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E)
What is a RI&E?
A RI&E is an inventory of all risks in the field of occupational health policy, safety, health and welfare (psychosocial workload) and then determine how important each point of attention is. The focus is on bottlenecks that need to be improved, but attention is also paid to the points that are well arranged. In this way we will help you to gain insight into all risks, provided with appropriate advice. Based on the points of interest, an action plan can be drawn up containing how each point of interest is addressed, who is responsible for it and when the approach should be ready.
Why a RI&E?
A RI&E is the starting point for the occupational health and safety policy that an employer must implement. Good working conditions prevent work-related absenteeism and accidents. If something happens at work due to poor working conditions, it can lead to liability. When an up-to-date RI&E is missing, the employer is not strong.
Many insurers have included in their terms that there must be an up-to-date RI&E. Finally: having an up-to-date RI& E has been an obligation under the Working Conditions Act since 1994. If this is missing, I-SZW (formerly Labor Inspectorate) can impose a fine.
Activities at the output of an RI&E
Iedere RI&E is customization, but overall the following steps can be distinguished:
- Preparation (make appointments, send questionnaire about occupational health and safety policy)
- Conversation with arbo-responsible
- Conversations with employees (on the work floor or in a group interview) and/or questionnaire research
- Rondgang
- Reporting (both in word, PDF and web-based in RIEaction)
- Review the employer-drafted plan of approach
Manage your action plan: RIEaction: We report not only on paper (word, pdf) but also web-based in the RIEaction management tool. With RIEactie, your organization can digitally complete, maintain and manage the Approach plan. Employees can be contacted by email about the actions to be taken. As your advisor, we also maintain insight into the field of working conditions and we can also provide you with good guidance and advice after the implementation of the RI& E on the Action Plan and keeping the RI& up to date; E.
Activities when testing an RI&E
Every test of an RI&E is customization, but overall the next steps are te
distinguished:
- Preparation and analysis: de RI&E is sent including completed action plan and reviewed by the executive advisor.
- Visit organization: During a visit to the organization, the operator of the RI&E. A testing tour is also held at the company.
- Reporting: The advisor draws up a review report. The result of the assessment may be: rejection, approval or approval subject to change. In most cases this concerns a subject to approval. In our assessment report we then mention matters that still need to be added to the RI& E to achieve a complete RI& E. In our opinion, that is where our added value lies. The report does not have to be presented to us again afterwards.
Review RI&E Work equipment
In practice, safe working is mainly working with safe and approved work equipment. Work equipment is machinery, tools and installations used in the performance of work. The use of machines, tools and installations should not pose any risks to the user and his environment. Safe behavior is just as important for safe working. Clear information, clear work instructions, the correct use of work equipment and regular maintenance and inspection - often mandatory - increase safety. Employers and employees are jointly responsible for this. In the RI&E Work equipment, hazards regarding working with work equipment are inventoried, the work risk is determined and measures are proposed to reduce the risk.
Activities
The following steps can be distinguished:
- During company visits, a safety expert will assess the available work equipment, in accordance with law and regulations regarding machine safety (the Machinery Directive, the Work Equipment Directive and NEN-EN-ISO 12100:2010);
- During the conduct of the research, it is important that existing safety features can be tested;
- There will be a conversation with the “arboreal responsible” regarding incidents and accidents involving work equipment;
- A conversation will take place with the “responsible for technical affairs”, which will focus on the technical files, inspection and maintenance, design and modifications;
- The “personnel responsible” will conduct an interview with information, education and instruction;
- Worker employees will be briefly interviewed regarding the use and behavior of work equipment.
- Reporting of findings.
